Mad Without A Reason

Life, Commissions, and Other Such Nonsense

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 18, 2008, 11:04 AM
So... I don't know if anyone's noticed, but I don't really use this journal... at all. :) I'm mostly active over on Livejournal, if you're interested in my personal and/or Supernatural-related ramblings. I also sketch dump over there, but most of the stuff ends up here in some form eventually, so... yeah. :) Just putting that out there.

As for art, right now I'm really, really swamped with getting ready for finals, but in the summer I'm going to have all sorts of free time. I wouldn't mind doing some trades, but I'm not sure that I trust myself to do a commission. I just... don't follow through most of the time. If you do want something, I'll probably open them up at the end of April, just keep in mind that I'm going to turn away anything I'm not interested in/don't think I'm capable of because I simply won't follow through. It's a sad fact I've had to realize about myself and my art.

I'm hoping to whip this place into shape during the summer, and upload a lot more original art, so... keep an eye out for that I guess. :) And wish me luck... Heh...

Life? Is this the sound of life?

I? Am not dead. Er... finally.

If I owe you something, I've probably forgotten. Please send me a note, and I'm terribly sorry, and I'll get it to you ASAP, and I grovel at your feet and beg your forgiveness and understanding.

Life's been rough recently. I just started college (aggghhhghegj*deathwail*), and I haven't drawn anything since I finished high school. Except for on my notes. So yeah. A little slow lately. But I just got some new prismacolor markers, so is that the promise of art to come that I smell in the air? :D

Oh I'm such a dork.

Okay, first thing is first. I still owe two free sketches from way back in last year. I'm so sorry that I still have not finished those! I do have the lineart for one, and the other is still a vague sketch, but I want them to look perfect so I'm not uploading them until they are. x)

I also have a commission going on right now, which is almost finished. Or at least it's inked. ^_^;

After this week, I'm done with the play, but softball practice starts. And when softball starts, my life ends. For about 3 months. This is being compounded by the fact that I am taking two AP tests this year, so... you may not see a lot of me. But I will come through on my prior obligations. I can assure you of that.

Right now I'm working on a large series of pictures on watercolor paper with PrismaColor markers at school. They're random and basically I can draw whatever I want whenever I feel like for them, so... it's the greatest project ever. XD Since there are so many of them, though, I'm going to put most of them in scraps. So... just letting y'all know if you wanted to see them. ^_^

Alrighty then... buh-bye for now!

Commissions, Revised.

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 18, 2006, 6:43 PM
I wanted to totally rework my commissions policy, just so I'd know what was going on with my own stuff. I'd like to be organized, so that I can treat my customers better. In the past, I have been untrustworthy with my commission-related things, and I'm going to fix all these problems now.

My Commissions are currently Open. I need to raise as much money as I can for my mission trip to France in the summer, so if I can pencil you in, I will.

What I Can Do:

- Sports posters. I don't currently have any examples of my work up, but I will shortly. I got into this by making a poster for the seniors on my softball team, and also a few for the football team. I could do any sort of poster involving photomanipulation that you would like; it doesn't have to be sports-related. Just tell me what you want, and we can work something out. [Prices: $5+ depending on complexity. You must also cover the cost of printing.]

- Cartoons. I don't enjoy working on comics with panels and things, but I can be persuaded to do them. I can do something with your original characters, but I refuse to sell anything with non-fandom characters in it because of copyright reasons. I don't want to mess with that mess, so this is a final decision on my part. [Prices: Lineart: $3 Colored: $5+ As complexity increases]

- Realistic portraits. I can do a good rendering of a human or even anthro face. These, however, are very time consuming for me. So pricing is going to be higher than anything else that I do. A good reference of my work in this is the Sion Portrait in my gallery. [Price: $10 ((Colored, simple background + head shot)) Price will go up as the level of complexity does. Just for reference, the Sion Portrait would be $10, most likely.]

What I WILL NOT Do:

I'm raising money for a Christian mission trip. Thus, it would be especially wrong to accept something that goes against my morals. That said, I will not draw gratuitous nudity, or gore. You can always ask if you've got a question. The worst I can do is say no. ^_^

Current Media

Right now I have PrismaColor Pencils, Oil Pastels, and Very Limited Range of PrismaColor Markers to use. I can also do oil paintings and acyrlic paintings, but they are not my greatest strong points. I'll also do something for you digitally. Pencil sketches/lineart drawings are also available

Negotiations

As you can see, the prices are not final. I will determine from your request what it will cost you, and you can negotiate with me from there until we get to something we can both agree on. The price listed is the base price, and I will not go below it, unless you're a really awesome negotiator. Keep in mind that the more characters you ask for, and the more complex they are, the more the price will go up.

So, PM me if you're interested. During the PM we can set up:

- What you want
- The price
- A timeline in which I will finish the picture
- How much payment I will receive upfront

This way, everyone can leave the commission happily. :)

Final Notice: I reserve the right to refuse any solicited commissions, and also to terminate working on a commission ((while giving a refund and the work completed up to that point, or a full refund to the customer)) if I need to.

I'll be doing an actual journal update tomorrow, with information about Christmas presents for people, and also an update on those last two free sketches. ^_^
